Evandro Gracelli is a guitarist and composer from São Paulo, Brazil. He made a huge impression when he first arrived on the Ottawa scene in 2009. His positive vibe and great musicianship made him a sought-after partner in Ottawa’s Latin and Brazilian music scene. Here in Canada, he maintains his musical connections with groups like Sol da Capital and Florquestra Brazil. In São Paulo, Gracelli has been performing flamenco jazz with Jedar Trio since 2014.

He has recorded one solo album, entitled “Urucum,” in 2004. More recently, he has participated on quality children’s music recordings: “Insetos no céu” (Insects in the Sky), as well as introspective versions of the iconic repertoire of Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd. Gracelli is a guest guitarist, arranger, producer, and composer on over 30 albums by various artists in Brazil. He holds a degree from the University of Campinas’s seminal Popular Music program, from 1993. He has been teaching guitar for over 30 years and continues to inspire young composers and musicians.

Gracelli is currently working toward publishing a book of original compositions for flute, for Northern Press, with Ueli Döring, in Ottawa. He is also working on publishing a collection of original songs in São Paulo, which includes selections written with partner Rachel Beausoleil.

Rachel Beausoleil sings with a smart combination of passion, technique, and informed connection to the lyric and the circumstances that bore the music. She lovingly shares it all with her listeners in six languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Latin.

Beausoleil’s performance passion led her to study the music of Brazil. Six dedicated years of researching Brazilian popular music earned her a doctorate from Carleton University, in musical culture. She completed her Master’s degree in ethnomusicology at the University of Ottawa.

Beausoleil performs throughout the Ottawa-Gatineau region, as well as Montreal, Toronto, and São Paulo. She sings in the vocal harmony groups The Capital Voices and The Juliet Singers, and with the Brazilian jazz group Sol da Capital, and the Panamerica Canção Project. Beausoleil maintains a thriving teaching studio. Finely attuned to the nuances of the human voice, she focuses on helping students achieve ease and balance in their singing, regardless of genre.

As a songwriter, Beausoleil writes in multiple languages. She is on the faculty of the Ottawa Singer Songwriter Camp. She has recorded two jazz CDs and a children’s album. She was the assistant director of Vox Eclectica Women’s Chamber Choir, and the conductor on the live recording of a choral work by Elise Letourneau called "Requiem for Fourteen Roses".

Some of his awards include first prize in the national finals of the Canadian Music Competitions, the Ontario Kiwanis Music Festival, and the Concours de Saxophone de Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec. He has recorded the original film soundtrack for “Herzstuck” by Frank Heckel, the theme song for the Ontario Winter Games, the television broadcast of “Gardens of New York” on PBS, “Shadowcatcher” with the Juilliard Wind Ensemble and the American Brass Quintet, and Ned Rorem’s “Sun”.
